Phrase of the Week The expectations for this project are that each week I will spend time to: 1) review a choreographer's work and improv or create a phrase inspired by them 2) improv in a setting of my choosing 3) create a set phrase (to silence, audible media, or (most likely) a song)
This project is documented from my improv in the rain video, my Twyla Tharp inspired improv video, and the “Rosie” phrase video. This work has been focused toward the beginning of the quarter due to Midsummer and Schoolhouse taking priority choreography time. This study has been helping me become more comfortable with exploring my own more movement. By making a phrase I am practicing decision making and committing to the choices of movement I am establishing. I plan to revisit this study in January as my time devoted to Schoolhouse transitions mainly to rehearsal times. Note: The video for “Rosie” is not an official performance or final product, rather a source for myself to look back on to remember and reference the development of the piece.
