This project has been a long process. I began with the intent of writing an essay that discussed our culture in relation to health education. Writing about the book “It’s Perfectly Normal” by Robie Harris turned to be a specific enough place to start. I had a hard time outlining my action and doing much writing last semester. It was mostly research. I am glad I was able to develop and finish this article with the guidance of Ben. I was able to dictate the purpose of the article, I wanted it to be for students at U-32. I figured that it should also not be an argumentative essay, but a discussion essay. I edited this piece throughout January and February and it got published in the Chronicle on March 20th for Teen Health Week at U-32. I plan to talk to Meaghan Falby and some social studies teachers (sophore democratic roots) about getting the article read in their classes. I have also reached out to a sex educator and founder of a website that posts articles about personal health. Her name is Eileen Kelly and it would be really cool if she read my article.
